Foreword from “A Historical Sketch of Lodge St. Anne’s, 1751 By the Lodge Founders et al.”, compiled by Past Master John E. Adderley B.S., M.S., Dip. Ed.
“I am pleased to have been asked by the Right Worshipful Master, Brother John E. Adderley, to write a foreword for this historic publication recognizing Lodge St. Anne’s, its Founders and Past Masters.
It a long time ago when I was invited to affiliate to Lodge St. Anne’s by a number of the Brethren. For me, it was an easy decision to accept the invitation because I knew the Brethren of that Lodge very well and had visited with them, traveled with them and fellowshipped with them on a number of occasions.
What attracted me to this Lodge was it character through its members. The Lodge was never apprehensive of trying new and bold initiatives to advance freemasonry or to take the lead on
difficult issues facing masonry. Indeed, many of the Lodges looked to Lodge St. Anne’s for leadership on matters affecting the District Grand Lodge.
This special character is what makes the Lodge unique and the “wonderment” of many. The Lodge’s focus on youth development, family, Brother Love, Relief and Truth have been its hallmark among all the Lodges. The Family Day, Fish Fry, Christmas Parties, Annual Retreats, relations with the Simpson Penn and the expansion of Scottish Freemasonry to the island of Eleuthera by the sponsoring of Lodge Eleutheran Adventurers No. 1816 in 1997, are but a few of its known accomplishments.
Its Past Masters have made and continue to make a tremendous contribution to the District Grand Lodge of The Bahamas and are considered among the esteem and distinguished Brethren in Freemasonry.
I encourage the Lodge to continue to lead by its example and to take an even greater role in the development and expansion of our District.”
